Several weeks of 80 degree weather brings an awakening to the peach trees of Tucson. During the 2nd week of March, our trees all over town began to flower. I don't know why people don't plant more of these beautiful trees into their landscape. They flower in Spring and create a lovely fruit in July. Here are some pink pics from El Presidio to make the mind wander......
Those a re enormously pretty blooms on the peach. what is the opuntia?- love that pink flower too.
ReplyDeletePeach trees seem to grow, give fruits for a couple of years and then die for an unknown reason over here...
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful,

Yes, we in the cooler parts of the Desert SW take all our peaches for granted. Didn't know there were many that met their winter chilling req's in Tucson - very nice!
ReplyDeleteAnd the peach-like bloom on the Beavertail Cactus - those are going bezerk in Las Vegas NV, at the edges of town right now!
As far as I can tell, we have 3 or 4 different peaches that meet the chilling hours. I have peaches every July on these trees. At El Presidio, we have 3 Peach trees in the garden and I'll have a post on them in July when they are about to set their fruit. I love the color of the pad on the Beavertail Cactus and the spring flower.....beautiful.
