All pics today taken from WIKI! India |
Here are some places I'd like to visit before I die. And let's face it, we're not getting any younger:)
|
The Nile River, Alexandria..... |
Well, I have a lot on my plate. If you think about it, we are all on the final countdown. For some of you it's Nirvana, or Heaven, or Hell, or Nowhere(aka "The Nothing" from "The Neverending Story"). For me it's......oh heck, I don't know.
|
Mt. Olympus of Greece |
So while I'm alive, I'm planning on some daring adventures in the near future. You are all invited to join me. Next year I plan on visiting Egypt. We've been planning this since November of last year. Why? Egypt is the answer to all. And pyramids are interesting.
|
A Mosque in Turkey |
Then there is the continent of Asia. Vietnam, Thailand, or India? Aren't there more? Yes. Tricky because there is so much to see.
|
Llama near the Salt Plains of Bolivia |
Africa? Hell yeah! Kenya? South Africa? Mauritania? The Dogon People? How cool of a photo shoot would that be??!!
|
Halong Bay Vietnam |
South America. Aren't you a Spanish teacher? Well if you must, yes....yes I am. Okay....so how about Brasil, Argentina, Venezuela, and BOLIVIA?!!!
|
Women of Mauritania |
And North America? Maybe. Canada? Sure. The extreme north.....like Alaska(sans Sarah Palin) or the Botanical Gardens of (fill in the blank) of Canada.
|
The Treasury of La Petra in Jordan |
Europe. I've marked you for "retirement". Greece and Turkey stay sexy but stop burning important historical buildings in Athens. I'll be there.
|
A Cenote in southern Mexico |
Australia and New Zealand. You make me dream. My best friend lives in Wellington......so how do I purchase a plane ticket? How do I visit my Godchild? I teach Spanish!!! How do I justify a trip to an English speaking country?
|
Sunset on the Pantanal, Brazil |
So on a teacher's salary, I've chosen to live in Tucson where the world begins and ends in a bang everyday for me. Yeah it's a hot place....in more ways than one:)
|
Mountain Gorillas near Virunga National Park in the Congo |
And the frosty places? Well Wisconsin, you nearly gave me frostbite there:) But Antartica you're on my list via Argentina. Hopefully you won't won't melt away from me before I'm ready to kick the bucket. Life is short. So we must live it. Period.
PS. And as for Ireland and everywhere else??? What's on your bucket list?
I've got so many things I want to do and places I want to see that I'll never have the time nor the money to do it. I'm hoping that after death we can do all that in a 'twinkle'. Who knows. :)
ReplyDeleteThat would be fun.....but I think that when a person dies, we're going to see the ultimate universe...and well that's infinite. Why spend time on Earth?:)
DeleteHi!!!..
DeleteOh my! Your bucket list makes me swoon with envy. I do hope you manage to go to every single place you dream of!
ReplyDeleteThis is what I think.....even if we don't make it to all of our places on the list....at they are there and give us something to look forward to....even if we never get to see them:)
DeleteLike you, my bucket list is long. Egypt sounds wonderful. I'm thinking Costa Rica this winter and do wish my Spanish was better.
ReplyDeleteOooooooohhhh.....you'll LOVE Costa Rica and I highly recommend it. Spanish doesn't have to be perfect. The people are great and many speak English......and it's safe to visit. Great choice....especially for nature lovers:) If you ever have any questions about places to visit etc, just let me know:)
Delete(came up clean, now!) :)
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful bucket list. I am sure you will find a way to see all of them. I have some of the same places on my bucket list. Africa, Alaska, Amsterdam, Australia, Belize, Brazil, Churchill Canada, Greece, Ireland and New Zealand.
ReplyDelete:) Half of those places take a tax return and then some:) to visit:)
DeleteOh, me too! All those places and maybe more. I got a kick out of your comment re Alaska (sans Sarah Palin). Didn't she buy a house in Scottsdale a year or so ago? She may live in your own backyard now! (If so, I wonder if she can see Mexico!)
ReplyDeleteI think she did!!!! Scary:) But I haven't seen her around the neighborhood....and that's a good thing. Actually she makes me laugh:) Alaska, I've heard, is incredible. Definitely a must see:)
DeleteIf I made a 'bucket list' I would spend the rest of what life I have left compiling it!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI like that answer. It was like my day today....what should I do? Hmmmmm....all day deciding and not a thing done:)
DeleteAh, dreams, ah.
ReplyDeleteTo dream.....:)
DeleteThat's some wish list and I'd say nmake India number 1- Taj Mahal but forget Egypt at least for a year or two until they sort themselves out. Hey, what about Knott End?
ReplyDeleteYeah, Egypt is on hold right now. This January we'll have to decide. There's a group of us who will make a decision and then go for it.....maybe Jordan instead.
DeleteŻyczę Ci z całego serca, żebyś wszystko zobaczyła o czym marzysz, a marzenia masz spore. Ja mam marzenia skromniejsze, bo ograniczone do Europy, ze względów finansowych. I jest w Europie takie miejsce, to jest grecka Wyspa Santorini. Pozdrawiam.
ReplyDeleteI wish you with all your heart, you all saw what you wish for, and you have big dreams. I have a modest dream, because limited to Europe, for financial reasons. And it is such a place in Europe, it is the Greek island of Santorini. Yours.
Finances are tight and I have to do strict budgeting to do all these things. Europe for me is really expensive....especially France. Nearly broke me the last time I went:)
Deletewow...so many cool places.
ReplyDeletefor me...africa, new zealand, australia, peru, easter island, ANY place that has old stone ruins...
BUT thankfully we have cyberspace (because i don't want to fly)so i'll just keep flying there in my mind.
BUT when i retire...and we 'hit the road' in our camper...i'd like to travel the perimeter of the US and then do criss-crosses...and alaska will be my final goal! (and if i can see russia...maybe i can get a picture at least...) :)
The older I get, the more fear I have of flying. I used to be immortal...now I've come to realty. I need a good book to get me through the experience. I'm with you on the old ruins.....many times there are one of my top reasons for visiting a place. Tikal in Guatemala, Machu Picchu in Peru, Valparasio Chile....fascinating places!
DeleteCool... Looking forward to the great pictures you will take and share!!
ReplyDeleteWow so many plans!! I hope that if you go you'll keep blogging, because that would make for amazing photo shoots.
ReplyDeleteGoing back out to Utah and to Yellowstone is on my bucket list. Lava Beds in CA too.
WELL---since I'm almost 70, I will miss out on so much of what you mentioned... Right now, we're still happy visiting places in the USA (Yellowstone, Yosemite, New England states, etc.)....We do want to visit Alaska, Canada and Hawaii sometime.... Time is fleeing!!!
ReplyDeleteGo for it, Chris. See everything you can.
Betsy
When I was younger, I was constantly going and going and going.....I felt like I was going to miss out on life if I stayed too long in one place. Today I am very content to live in Tucson and if I went today, I'd be okay:) But I am so curious about the world and people and I want to know more....I feel like the journey has just begun. There is a lot to see in the US but it is sooo expensive...even more expensive than travel outside of the country. We tried doing a road trip to Yellowstone and Yosemite and realized that the trip was overbudget:( Hawaii and Alaska sound beautiful!
DeleteI suppose I'm a bit of a home body really. There are lots of far off places which look exotic and exciting and which I'm sure would be wonderful to see but then there are also still places here in the UK that I haven't visited yet. I hope you get to see all the places on your list eventually Chris...I have a feeling you will.
ReplyDeleteWe just have to take it one year at a time:) Funding for the trips is the big obstacle:) Hope you are well. I heard you had some sun yesterday....hope there's more for you today!:)
DeleteGood luck on marking all of those destinations off of your bucket list. What pictures you'll have to share!
ReplyDeleteOMG Kreeeeesh! you are making me nervous! Even my very short shortlist which i planned since college were not fulfilled yet, and they are very short indeed. Take Egypt, Machu Pichu, Tibet, Scotland, Rome, China. They are probables compared to yours, but i haven't been to any yet except for Rome and China. And it looks like i have been seeing most of the ruins, and i dont know why. I've been to Borobudur and Prambanan in Indonesia, or Angkor Watt in Cambodia, Turkey, but they are not included in my list. When you climbed Machu Picchu the long route, do you know how envious i were! OMG, i might not pass that trail anymore. I have friends inviting me to South Africa, Brazil, Chile and more, but my funds are always short for the long roundtrips, hahaha. Maybe i should just be happy with yours, and wish you better luck! For godssakes i can join you wherever, hahaha!
ReplyDeleteHope you get to see those wonderful places Chris. Lovely to dream and even better to plan the visits :) I would love to visit the Norwegian fjords hopefully with a view of the Northern Lights, New Zealand, Australia, Costa Rica, the Galapagos Islands. Although most of them are out of the question without a lottery win! Never mind there is still so much of Britain I haven't yet seen and some places in Europe would be manageable financially.
