Over mountains, meadows, and canyons, here are the 12 hummingbirds I found in Southern Arizona. I only missed one...the White Ear Hummingbird. Next year:) But for now enjoy the beauty of these incredible little birds. I'm on break and have limited access to blogger but I wanted to answer the question presented yesterday by Kathy. What do you call a group of hummingbirds? Answer. A Charm:)

'Charm' is perfect for these little jewels! Just like 'Murder' is perfect for a group of Crows!! At least that's what they're called downunder ...

So nice to see all those. Too bad they are not all around at the same time and same garden. Well, maybe they are - I remember Kartchner Caverns hummingbird garden one August.

Holy Cow!! I mean bird... These are amazing. I love the pink and yellow ones, and the little fat purple one that I have never ever seen before, even in a picture. You must have done a Happy Dance when you got these shots!

ReplyDeleteThat's a gorgeous collection of hummingbird photos. We still have a few here but they should be leaving soon. The only one I recognize is the ruby throated. Need to study this more.

ReplyDeleteDid you find as many as twelve varieties? Great! I'm charmed by each and every hummingbird. Now I added “a charm of hummingbird” to my vocabulary (as an English learner). Language is an interesting human invention. I haven’t seen even a single hummingbird in person, so I’d be on top of the world if I could see a charm of hummingbird.

A super collection of photos of these lovely little birds. Here we call a group of goldfinches (such pretty birds!) a charm - so fascinating to learn a group of hummers has the same name :)
