I thought I'd close out with two final posts of our hummingbirds before moving into the grasslands of Southern Arizona......and I'll revisit them as they appear in other outings over the winter. Tomorrow's post is exciting as it shows all the hummers together spotted from the various hummingbird observations made in spring until now.
A fond farewell to our little friends in Southern Arizona. Safe journeys.

OH WOW Chris!!!! those are gorgeous photos of the hummingbirds!! spectacular...the 6th one down (i think) looks as if the hummer's looking at his reflection...paused in front of the mirror!! what fantastic shots!!!! ALL of them!
ReplyDeleteLovely :) Love the shots by the flowers - it reminds you how tiny they really are!

I imagine you feel the same way as I did in England when the swallows left - the migrant birds are such an important marker of the changing of the seasons.

They are just little miracles of nature, aren't they. Every photo of them is outstanding.
ReplyDeletethey're just wonderful. your photos are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSo they overwinter to your south, but not Tucson? At least you don't have far to go! Still seeing one or two. My favorite was election day 2004, a cold front brought a brisk canyon wind and snow flurries to my house (though just below 50F...), and a few hummers were madly hitting every Salvia greggii bloom before their Abq-Mexico (or Abq-Sierra Vista) flight!
ReplyDeleteNice one Chris, like the 'face to face' shot, looks like the Hummer is looking into a mirror :-)
ReplyDeleteYou really scored on all these fabulous hummer photos.
ReplyDeleteWspaniałe zdjęcia, a na szóstym od góry wyglądają jakby tańczyły w locie. Pozdrawiam
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, and the sixth from the top look like they were dancing on the fly. Yours
Lovely shots of my favorite little bird!
ReplyDeleteThey really are amazing little buggers aren't they?!
