We watched the skies fill with birds as they flew, stopped, and moved on.
Some of course stayed around and were only coming out to dine:) That's why I keep my cats indoors.
And with all of this begins the change that is before each of us. I believe East coast winters will be cold and snowy and ours wet. El NiƱo is back again. This means that the warm winter of this year may not happen for us again. And let's hope not. We all need the rain or snow.
So I'm thinking cooler thoughts. How about you?
Hi Chris,
ReplyDeleteThings are definitely on the change over here in the UK. When it's not raining, mornings are notably cooler, and leaves are starting to fall from the trees. I love the winter and the cold that it brings with it. 'Bring it on' is what I say!
Strength in numbers ? Unfortunately those numbers are dwindling. In ways most people can't imagine.
ReplyDeleteUsually an El Nino in So-Cal meant warmer temps as a result of the Pineapple Express via the southern jetstream.
Beautiful birds all flying south. And, I don't want winter to come, we haven't had a summer over here.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! They are calling for frost this weekend. Where does the time go?
ReplyDeletewe're getting a cold front tomorrow that should drop us down about 30 degrees. :)
ReplyDeleteWe have geese flying overhead by the hundreds, honking at all time of day and night, just in case we dim-witted humans didn't know to put our summer things away and prepare for winter :) Seems like we're all asking for water lately.
ReplyDeleteThese photos could illustrate so well a book I'm reading right at this very moment. I'm going to send you an e-mail with the details. Yes, this dry stuff needs to go. We did get over six inches of rain last weekend and even some parts of our county got up to 14 inches! Now that's too much in one day.
ReplyDeleteThat reason and others are why Hank doesn't have a life outside. We have coyotes come into the neighborhood at times. One got a little dog a couple of years ago. I'm sad for the dog and the family that will miss him but I'm also sad for the coyotes. They've been pushed out from their grounds all over this country. People want them exterminated and I get furious at that.
ReplyDeleteOh, Chris, I so hope you are right about the weather. I love this transitional time of year. Things are gearing down and rest is coming...that has always appealed to me.
ReplyDeletelast winter was not cold enough for me! we had only a few nights that went down to freezing or below. so far, it's not cooled off much...and the weather has been hot & humid...we are getting RAIN, which is ALWAYS a good thing!! have a happy weekend chris!
ReplyDeleteI am hoping that this winter is mild like last winter.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Chris!
Cooler is already happening here.
ReplyDeleteThe site of all of those coyotes gives me the goosebumps!
ReplyDeleteI am hoping your weather predictions come true. The water in the Great Lakes is down a lot. We need a wet winter.
ReplyDeleteYou remind me that I need to do a little research about what we can expect this winter. Hopefully we will keep getting rain. Our lakes are only half full.
ReplyDeletewhat this post makes me think is that none of us knows exactly what's ahead except that things just don't stay the same, so it will be different. Down here, of course, we're warming up, and wondering what kind of summer it will be.
ReplyDeleteI am so ready for cooler weather. I would love a really cool winter this year! I'm glad you keep your cats inside, those fellas look scary!
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely cooler out there now...a great change in just a few days.
ReplyDeleteJen @ Muddy Boot Dreams
we did have quite the warm winter last year
ReplyDeleteI wish Chris..we're in for a hot, dry summer, not appealing at all.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Chris - really love the first one. Hope weather cools down for you soon.
