I'm HUNGRY!

Barn Swallow
Barn Swallow love today:)  I finally am satisfied with documenting a barn swallow feeding.  Warren(from Pittswood Birds) took amazing shots of these adorable barn swallows some time ago.  I had done the same but I wasn't happy with the photography on my blog.  I'm a bit of a perfectionist.  Even these shots could be a little lighter but the detail is good.   Today I was finally able to get those shots.  This little guy was adorable.  Kathie and I watched the routine as both mother and father came in to feed the birds.  And a side note.  I really appreciate the work all of you do on your blogs.  You teach me about photography and how to get better shots.  And it's thrilling to be able to see these things out in the field.

More tomorrow from the grasslands and riparian sector of  Empire Ranch and Cienagas near Sonoita.

  2. Dobrze, że mama nie wystraszyła się fotografa i dalej karmiła swoje śliczne dzieci. Pozdrawiam.
Well, my mom does not scare the photographer and then fed their beautiful children. Yours.

  7. Oh I love these shots Chris. I remember taking pics of swallows (They're there somewhere on my blog) in a very busy shopping centre. The babies mouths are always open looking for food, such a pressure for mum and dad.

  13. Well done Chris,
They are very quick little birds, making them tricky for photography.

All the Swallows have left our shores now, all but a few stragglers that is, most will be back in Africa now - amazing!

  18. Dear Friend Kreesh, i commented on the later post but think it didn't go through, anyway i wrote there that my spark bird is a barn swallow. And when i went back to older post, wow you posted it and much better than the ordinary shots. That one showing the wide mouth and the throat is so adorable. OMG I wish i have that long lens too. I visited a research facility in Mindanao, 1.5hr plane ride from Manila and I saw those nests near the ceiling just like that one. I didn't know it is by the barn swallow as the owners were not there that time. Thanks for the awesome photos and the information.
