Tucson Housing Market

Here's something different and a first for this blog.  I thought this would be a fun little game to play:) You have to use your imagination.  Pics are supplied and just your opinion is needed:) A wizard captured you and turned you into a bird. You are forced to choose a home. Which one would it be? Remember that the option description goes with the pic above it.
Option 1.  It's sci fi and something I'd imagine in Sweden, Finland, or Holland.  I don't know why I think this but I just do:)
Option 2.  A homemade gourd.  Very hobbit like.
Option 3.  You moved to England:)  Maybe Harry Potter lives here.
Option 4.  This house doesn't hang and is wheelchair accessible:)
Option 5.  It screams, "Heeeeey!!"
Option 6.  The Starbucks of birdhomes.
Option 7.  You're an animal!!!  Well no you're not......because you're a BIRD!!! Get used to it:)
Option 8.  I think they smoke something here.

Option 9.  "OMG!  Becky, would you look at that bird's butt!  It's like....so big!"

Option 10.  I sense there is beer drinking, some smoking with a table of friends...and a card game going on:)
Option 11.  African love!
Option 12.  Hoarders anonymous.
Option 13.  Muy mexicano.
Option 14.   Say your prayers every night.
Option 15.  Very Tucsonan.
Option 16.  A gardener lives here.  Maybe a Gardener on Sherlock Street or A Garden Wench:)
Just one of many birdhouses at the Tucson Botanical Gardens
So what's your verdict?  I'll share mine at the end of the day.  Do you love bird houses? If you're in Tucson, check out the Tucson Botanical Gardens birdhouse display!  Very cool homes all over the place AND there's many more I haven't shown you.  But until that time, what's your pick?:) Oh and since you were forced to be a bird, what bird would you be?:)

  1. Brilliant birds nesting, I wonder, do they use them?

  2. well chris, i don't want to sound ungrateful, but if I became a bird, which is something I've often dreamed of, I won't be able to fit into those sweet but tiny bird houses. I'll be an eagle or an albatross, flying far away, over the seas, and when I need a nest, I'll find my own wild nest at the top of a high cliff or mountain, not in a botanical garden filled with well meaning human beings. cheers, thanks for the fantasy, I'll have to get grounded again, catmint.

  4. What a fun collection of bird houses! As different as the many species of birds. Very fun! I'm not telling which one I would choose. ;)

  5. The bird houses are all beautiful. If I were a bird I would choose the first option because I have a dutch heritage.

  6. I like #11 and as an African Roller I'd like living in a rondeval.

  7. What I see more than anything else is hispanic art. Swedes and Englishmen would be shocked. African Immigrants would have no problem with them.

  8. If I were a Magpie, I would probably choose the Hoarders House ;)
Also, my husband made that one. Hehehe.

    1. Actually Amy, have you ever seen a Magpie nest ? They are not cavity nesters that would use birdhouses. They building a giant nest which is a bundle of large sticks about the size of a small file cabinet with a hole for an entrance. They also use them for surviving the harsh winters here as well.

Maybe they have different nesting habits where you are.

    2. Amy, I can totally see it:) It all makes sense now:) They are a really nice creative collection of birdhouses....I had forgotten that the presentation was still going on. It was a nice treat to photograph them all. Do you know if any of the birds have nested in them?

    3. The Magpie thing was a joke, due to their (mostly incorrect) reputation for stealing and hoarding things. I have never seen a Magpie in Arizona.

No birds nesting yet! Probably too much lookey-loo traffic :)

    4. When I went the other day, I noticed a lot of Verdin's flying around the places making me think...hmmmmmm:) I don't think I've seen one here either and I look all over the place. Mockingbird yes....but Magpie, unless we're talking about the delicious pizza?:)

    5. Holy cow Kevin!!! That Magpie nest is huge! I've never seen one that size before. I love Mother Nature....so many things out there that surprise and dazzle.

  10. Well seeing as I grew up in central Africa Chris, I'd pick the 'Africa love' birdhouse and I'd be a 'Red Headed Lovebird'!!

  11. Cute varieties, I like the little Tucson house. A bird? A finch, colorful, charming, and acrobatic.

  12. I like options 6, 11, and 14. But I agree with catmint, I would be out in the wild and not in a bird house. If I wee a bird...well, there are so many I like so that could be hard to choose. I love the way Western meadowlarks sing and I like their habitat. I love rock wrens and the way they bounce and trill and I like their habitat. I like brown creepers for how small and sweet an unobtrusive they are and I love the woods! I love most species of woodpeckers. And I love sandhill cranes and the sounds they make and how high they fly and the way they dance, so you see, this is very hard for me to choose! I need to think about it somemore but thanks for spurring the thoughts! Oh, dippers. I like dippers as well. fairly plan looking but I would love to be able to dive into the water like that, then fly up into the mountains! I like the way they bounce on their legs too!

  13. I'm definitely the English cottage type!

  15. Lovely idea for a post Chris - what colourful bird houses! I can't decide between Option 2 the hobbit like gourd because I love hobbits :) or Option 3 which look the most practical!

If I were a bird I think I would like to be a barn owl - or perhaps a golden eagle - both of which would be too big for your birdhouses I think :) i.e. something near the top of the food chain so I wouldn't get eaten myself!

  16. Nice purple house you chose for me.
The blue and white one looks good too.

  17. Śliczne i niektóre zabawne domki dla ptaków. Ja bym wybrała opcję nr 11. Pozdrawiam.
Pretty funny, and some houses for the birds. I would have opted for No. 11 Yours.

  18. I rather like option 11, looks to be a nice cozy spot.

  19. Wonderful photo collection of birds' nests! I am sure you enjoyed looking at all of them. But if I am a bird, i wouldn't like living in any of them, i need to be free and in the company of my kin. I remember when my nephew was still a baby, i asked him what he wants to be like if not a kid. While he was thinking, i suggested an earthworm. Do you know that he cried, a real cry! I can imagine that being an earthworm really looks lowly and pathetic! I am still thinking what bird would i want to be now! What about a bird-of-paradise! hahaha

  20. Oh how cute---all of them... Since I'm sorta a 'plain jane'---My choices are Option 6 and 11. I also like Option 16.... But--there is alot of creativity in all of them.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  21. I would be a male painted bunting and live in house # 14.

  22. I like your idea a lot but to live in such a Fantasy Home? Hum... I am not sure...
Still, let's revisit these same "homes" in a couple of years. The painting job is hurting my nostrils and making it hard for me to choose from though the first one with two large patios could be of some help in the summer or the number 3 if I had to spend a night in a cheap hotel while hiking the Grand Canyon with friends...

  23. Oh, what a cool post! I'll take the one with the low down payment and adjustable ARM that I can piggyback on the second.

  24. I missed getting to post on this. That's when I discovered I was having troubles again. I would of course choose #16! Gardner and bird watcher. Get that Tracy...always the practical one. :)
