Just Be

"You can travel the world but you can't run away
from the person you are in your heart
you can be who you want to be
make us believe in you
keep all your light in the dark

if you're searching for truth
you must look in the mirror
and make sense of what you can see

just be

just be

they say learning to love yourself
is the first step
that you take when you want to be real
and flying on planes to exotic locations
won't teach you how you really feel
face up to the fact that you are who you are
and nothing can change that belief

just be

just be"

Deep thoughts with my Goldfinch shoot on Mt. Lemmon. Something I discovered about myself while travelling places and never settling down.  Lyrics by DJ Tiesto. More tomorrow....

  1. Lovely lyrics and I love the Goldie shots. I enjoy traveling but I wouldn't call it running away. More like a chill time away from work and the everyday home stuff. Lovely post, have a great day.

    1. Hola!! Most of the pics I don't alter although I've been experimenting more to enhance the meaning behind the shots. When I saw this pic, the goldfinch was on this branch during a cloudy and dark day. It seemed to glow and of course when I took the picture, it was brighter around the bird. So, on our IPAD we targeted the lightsource and created a focus field around the bird which darkened the outside circle. I then worked on contrast, shadow, and highlight for the finished product. This was a tricky pic. In the last shot, we had to do very little....just bleach the coloring a little....but just a tad. I feel like artistic/reflective posts required artistic pictures.

  4. Nicely done, Chris. Food for my mind and eyes to contemplate.
Mount Lemon was my place to daydream when I was 7 years old. My imagination could go wild up there.

    1. Thanks Tracy:) The top pic was taken on top of a dark cloudy mountain and yet this little guy seemed to brighten up the branch. I just enhanced it a little:)

  15. Deep post, Chris.... We all need to go on that mountain to think and ponder our lives... AND--as you know and said, we need to learn to love ourselves and our lives before sharing that love with others....

I had a rough first marriage and always felt unworthy and unloved... It wasn't easy... I did get out --and start my life over. When I met George, I finally realized what love was all about. That's when I finally did learn to love myself....

    Great birdie photos.... Awesome!!!!
