There is a reason Catalpa and Gleditsia are from the Mississippi valley and Chilopsis and Prosopis are from the desert!!!<br /><br />BTW, every post a great one on tough trees, and too bad only Phoenicians and other lower desert people can use all of them with no cold issues. The eucalypt trees in Australia have tough leathery leaves to combat transpiration under our hot Summer sun. They also hang down so their surfaces are not in the sun all the time.
