One last big hurrah for the monsoon. As September nears the end so does the monsoon season....officially. During this hike storm clouds quickly built up around me. And all of it during sunset.
These pics were taken from downtown Tucson along the Santa Cruz wash. When I look at an Arizona sky, I many times lose myself within the clouds.
This year for me, it's a happy/sad thing. I'm glad the heat is going away but I'll also miss all the summer visitors we get during our hot days. But I won't miss the mosquito bites.

I'll continue my Chuparosa challenge into next year or whenever a new species presents themselves again. And it could be here or elsewhere in the Americas through travel.
So for now, I'm enjoying visits from the butterflies around our gardens here at El Presidio. And I think I'm ready for October:)

I cannot cope with your posts, i've just seen one and another is erupting, haha! Your clouds look like ours too, but during our dry months. This time our sunsets are not as beautiful. That butterfly is lovely, but it is black, OMEN!
ReplyDeleteLove the cloud photos Chris - really atmospheric :) Glad you had a good birding trip!
ReplyDeleteStunning!I love the sky..wonderful pics...
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful!!! I was always dazzled after a monsoon and the Tucson skies!!!! There is nothing like it whole world.
ReplyDeleteYou should add this link to the Bird D'Pot meme for this week, your hummers are superior!!
all beautiful scenes! yes, i thought of that product. :)
ReplyDeleteThose monsoon sunset clouds are spectacular. I'm a little jealous of you and Kathie going birding and butterflying. But I sure love the images and stories.
ReplyDeleteWith their massive size and shapes, and especially their vivid colouring, I can easily understand why earlier people thought storm clouds were being created and controlled by mythical powers and personalities :)
ReplyDeleteSunset sky is always made more spectacular by the clouds formation. In the first image, I feel clouds are building up and up toward me. I haven’t seen humming bird in person. The bird with flowers is fabulous. It was hot and humid today for the middle of September, however, I felt cool breeze in the shade. There are many signs of autumn, and there’s something sad and lonely at the end of summer though I hate the sultry weather. Have happy days ahead toward autumn.

Awesome clouds! They build so beautifully here. It's good to appreciate what is good about where we live...no matter where that is. I love that you embrace all that is this Arizona desert.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful clouds and great captures on those hummingbirds too.
ReplyDeleteAfter a lot of rain over the weekend, we're looking at a dry spell.
You cloud photos are spectacular! The sky is so magical if we only take time as you have to enjoy it. We had some beautiful clouds the last few weeks with thunderstorms in the mountains, we didn't get rain, but mother nature gave us a wonderful show.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog today.
Carla
Beautiful lighting and colors in those clouds! A gorgeous sunset. The hummers and butterflies are pretty and always a treat to see. Wonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, especially for the second one of Hummingbirds, I love the way you've got it, still.
ReplyDeleteI remember build-up clouds like that...a few years ago! But what you say on the creatures leaving after the monsoon season departs...I hear you. Right now, the hummers are still frolicking about...even seeing broadbill hummers, which I've barely seen up here much.
ReplyDeleteThose clouds are amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou've got some great shots in this post!
ReplyDeleteThe colours are delicious. I'm jealous of your hummingbird. I fear our yard hummer has left us for a warmer clime!
ReplyDeleteSpectacular skies, hummers and butterflies.
ReplyDeleteChris, you are so funny! I love the cloud pictures! They are outstanding! I am exhausted as well but feeling better as the day went on! It was all worth it! I hope to post about our trips soon!
ReplyDeleteThis post is full of wonderful photographs!
ReplyDeleteMagnificent beauty of clouds and tenderness of hummingbirds...

ReplyDeleteLove the clouds!!
ReplyDeleteAnd the tiny little birds are cute:)
Que bellas esas nubes y los picaflores.. Envíame unos cuantos para España.. Un abrazo..
ReplyDeleteLoving picture #1, very dramatic and the colors are fantastic. Picture #6 is one of the best hummer pics I have seen. It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am sure that the photos I took the other day of the incredible clouds at dusk were taken on exactly the same day. I haven't posted them yet. Also, yes, I've see LOTS of butterflies recently, but haven't been fortunate enough to capture any with my camera. I am wondering if Kathie is the same Kathie that used to live here and I think recently moved back???!!! I follow her blog, and had emailed her to ask about the move, but she hasn't responded. I would love to meet her! And you as well. Perhaps the opportunity will arise.
ReplyDeleteMarie, that would be a lot of fun. I usually go to Sweetwater on the weekends either early in the morning or later towards the evening like around 5. It has been an exciting summer of finds and I'm up for a trip there:) There's always something just waiting to be captured on film:) Let me know when you guys are ready to battle the cooler temps and I can meet up with you all wherever. We've got lots of great places here to check out. It's always fun meeting other bloggers. It's all about the experiences and lots of fun. I'm about to get going on blogger tonight. Just finished editing more pics! Never ending.
