When Dreamer's Dream

I lose myself each time I see a pillow made of purple fluff.  And each time I slowly morph into that college freedom fighter.  The one that sits in the tree to save it from being cut down.
The sky is limitless.  The Earth is not.  We continue to grow and expand where we should not.
I stand on top of a forest in the middle of the desert with awe and wonder. One side forest; another part mined not so far away.  How long does something like this take to grow and become?  And how long did it take for us to destroy?
A bright flash of color stops me in my tracks.
The big things.  The little things.  They all matter.  One connected to the other. Each time I go out into the field, something new reveals itself to me.  And it makes me dream about what more is out there. These are things worth protecting for future generations.  So that little dreamers may dream someday. So that bees can flutter from flower to flower.  Or lizards perch upon their rocks. So that we preserve what little is left of this shrinking world.

  1. Lovely shots, the top one is beautiful, all of natures bounty is being destroyed bit by bit and day by day, a very sad thing.

  3. It is sad to see anything destroyed, especially by a human. I love your photos, the sky and the beautiful bloom. It is great getting out there and seeing new things. That is why I love the weekends, it is my time to explore. Have a happy weekend!

  8. Great post, Chris. Isn't it amazing, when we get out in nature and truly experience it, how we yearn to SAVE it for those critters and plants and trees, etc. out there????? We humans don't do a very good job of caring for our beautiful earth--but we SHOULD.

We just got home from a week at Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina. Had a fabulous time....

    Happy Mother's Day.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  11. Wow Suz!!! I am so jealous! I know it's my hometown but it's been forever since I've been back there. It's really beautiful this time of year during the spring. Hope you had fun in Door and maybe tasted a little Cherry wine?:)

  15. Very inspiring, and thought-provoking post, Chris! Love the photos, and your wonderful thoughts. We all have to be guardians of our world. It is so important! I hope I can help do something about the San Pedro R! As you can see, I am WAY behind in catching up with people, and I am trying to catch up. I had such a busy week making brightly colored anti-Monsanto signs! :-) My husband and I might be on the channel 4 news tonight. We were interviewed anyway. I'm not used to this stuff, but when I feel strongly about something, I want to get the info out there! I want to DO something! Protecting habitat is one of those things.
