Until Next Year

I thought I'd close out with two final posts of our hummingbirds before moving into the grasslands of Southern Arizona......and I'll revisit them as they appear in other outings over the winter.  Tomorrow's post is exciting as it shows all the hummers together spotted from the various hummingbird observations made in spring until now.

A fond farewell to our little friends in Southern Arizona.  Safe journeys.

  4. I imagine you feel the same way as I did in England when the swallows left - the migrant birds are such an important marker of the changing of the seasons.

  7. So they overwinter to your south, but not Tucson? At least you don't have far to go! Still seeing one or two. My favorite was election day 2004, a cold front brought a brisk canyon wind and snow flurries to my house (though just below 50F...), and a few hummers were madly hitting every Salvia greggii bloom before their Abq-Mexico (or Abq-Sierra Vista) flight!

  8. Nice one Chris, like the 'face to face' shot, looks like the Hummer is looking into a mirror :-)

Great photos, and the sixth from the top look like they were dancing on the fly. Yours
