Pantry Panic

Today's feature is a horror.  Imagine yourself snatched and captured by a giant bug.
You've been paralyzed and can't move but you know your death is only minutes away.
The Dryudella flies you into the pit.
A hole is dug deep while you lie helpless.
Then you are dragged into a dark cave.
This is the last time anyone will see you.....
.....until you completely disappear....forever.  Today's summer matinee is rated R for scary images. Remember to turn off electronic devices. Don't forget to stop at the concession stand for our specialty food item.....fried grasshoppers.
These were Grasshoppers served at our table in Puebla during a visit with my Mexican family. They're actually pretty good:)
Normally served in Mexico, these "cha-poo-lee-nays" are served as an appetizer.

    1. I sure did:) At first, I was grossed out by the idea, but I came around to it and actually like them. The one I have a hard time with are the agave worms fried up. Those I still haven't been able to swallow whole.

  14. Perfect horror movie, the capture, screams for help no one will hear, and live burial followed by carnage for supper. Ewwwwww! Well done Chris! (now can we go back to fairy-like hummingbirds?)

  19. The scary part of this for me was the chapulines.
I can deal with the life being sucked out of the bug by a wasp but fried grasshopper... uh uh

  20. OMG you should write horror movies scenario! Terrible but it's the cruel law of selection! And anyway if the grasshopper had not been eaten by the monster-fly it would have been by a human being! ;-0

  23. Kreeeesh, you don't ran out of things in your head! And this post kept me laughing. I also see things like these many times, but my lens cannot do justice to them, and my mind is not so creative in weaving words like you! But those appetizers I also saw in Cambodia, and they have heaps full of insects and tarantula, and something like big green cockroach. My adventurous travel buddy tasted each one of them, while i feel so yaicks watching him! I heard some people here in our country in the far north also eat that, but i haven't seen it yet.
