Petal Pusher

Blooms galore in the desert!  Today we focus on a rose garden near my house.  I've had an excellent show in our own gardens this year.  But if inspiration is needed, you must visit The Gardens.  It's getting hot and the roses will soon be finishing up.
Roses perform best in Tucson during the months of March/April/beginning of May and than later in October/November before our winter begins.   They do go into a hibernation but always snap back in early spring.
I've done a lot of writing about roses on this blog and you can find those links just by typing in "rose" up in the search box above.  Here are some of my favorite shots from this incredible rose garden.
Roses come in all colors.  For some reason, I enjoy the above colors better than the traditional red.
But as you can see, there are so many choices to pick from.....where does one start?:) I started with a  couple bushes a year and always add different colors for the El Presidio gardens.  More tomorrow....

  3. It looks as though roses thrive in the oasis in Tucson every bit as well as they do in my region. Very nice...we are at rose peak, soon to join you in 4-5 weeks if it heats up.

    1. I'd try Diane because they do well in certain spots....a little bit of shade that will break up the strong summer sun and somewhere out of the wind if possible. Roses HATE wind:) I've messed around with several now and as long as I fertilize and water, I've got winning blooms:)

  6. Absolutely wonderful. I have tried without success to grow roses. One of my favorites is "Angel Face". I love it's lovely lavender color and beautiful fragrance.

  7. They are just beautiful Chris, all those glorious sunny colours! Your desert looks more like England than England at the moment especially as we lost all of April to rain and so far May is going the same way :-(

    1. I'm sorry about all your rain. I've seen and heard all about the swamps left behind. Hopefully you'll all have better weather this month:)

  10. I agree. I don't care for the solid red roses so much. By the way, when I saw your post title I was wondering if you were going to confess to wearing another type of pants. :-) (You are probably too young to even know what that means!)

  12. Gorgeous roses, Chris. We grow roses here too--but ours are hybrid teas and grandiflora. We have 55 different varieties ---and all of ours have a wonderful fragrance... They are AWESOME---just like the ones you saw and photographed...

    Thanks for sharing such beauty.

  13. Hello Kreesh, happy weekend! If you did not say they are roses in the desert, i will think they are from some sub-tropical climates. They're so beautiful. By the way, i also made another blogsite, i call it Pure Oxygen Generators, www.pureoxygengenerators.blogspot.com. It is long because i made a lot of mistakes in creating a new one. Now i dont know how to delete the other one! haha. I am now Kalantikan!
